Inmar, GS1 US to Hold GMA Recall Management Course

Product recall management experts from Inmar, an operator of intelligent commerce networks, will join forces with GS1 US and the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) for "Efficient and Effective Product Recall Management," a course aimed at manufacturers and their retail trading partners.

The course, slated to take place on Nov. 5 at GMA headquarters in Washington, D.C., will prepare regulatory, safety and quality assurance (QA) professionals in the food and CPG industries to deal with a recall. The course will delve into system components, the decision to recall, obligations to federal and state agencies, notification of customers, and product handling and disposition.

Training will concentrate on the end-to-end recall management process, beginning with a review of the key components of recall preparedness and continuing with notification via Rapid Recall Exchange, compliance reporting and reverse logistics. The training will then divide into two "tracks:" one for QA/food safety/regulatory personnel, and the other for those responsible for communicating and coordinating the recall process with retailers.
