Industry Talk Offers Chief University Specifics
In the second of a two-part exclusivevideo segment, Progressive Grocer Technology Editor Joseph Tarnowski continues his discussion with Stephanie Skylar, president and CEO of Chief Super Markets, regarding the specifics and challenges of Chief University.
In this segment, Tarnowski and Skylar discuss Chief University’s latest curriculum, Customer Experience, in which associates are asked to reveal their greatest and most nightmarish customer experiences.
“It’s not quite role playing, but they get to stand up in front of the group and talk about what bugs them, and what has been really delightful with the customer,” explains Skylar.
In this candid interview, Skylar also reveals the surprising outcome of one of the University’s courses — Department Manager 101 — in which the basic department manager responsibilities are outlined.
Tarnowski further discusses with Skylar the challenges and future of the program. So far, Skylar says associate response to the curriculum has been great, further adding that her goal is to get young people more interested in retail careers.
“Our hope is to continue the excitement of the program, and mold future leaders of this company,” Skylar underscores.
The company dispays a definite commitment to developing a skill set that’s just “not for school, but for life.”
