Hy-Vee Gets on Click-and-Collect Bandwagon

Hy-Vee Inc. is the latest grocery retailer to introduce a click-and-collect service, a concept that combines technology with the core competencies of the traditional grocer.

The new Hy-Vee Aisles Online is being piloted at select stores. Shoppers select their products online; an associate armed with a hand-held computer picks the order, which can be delivered to the customer's home or readied for pickup at the store at a prearranged time, at which a store employee will load their vehicle.

Hy-Vee charges $4.95 per order for home delivery, or $2.95 for the in-store pickup option. The fee is dropped for orders exceeding $100.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee operates 235 stores across eight Midwestern states.
