HEB's 'Share Your Holidays' Drive Delivers $50,000 to The Houston Food Bank

HOUSTON -- Last week representatives from H.E. Butt Grocery Co. here presented the Houston Food Bank with a check for $50,000, the total amount raised during its "Share Your Holidays" drive.

Tom Jarvis, regional v.p., HEB Houston region, presented the check to Houston Food Bank's president and c.e.o. Brian Greene. Said Greene, "This check represents the generosity of thousands of Houston area residents who shop at HEB. The funds will help the food bank support the many hunger relief programs that serve 80,000 individuals who need emergency food supplies each week."

The "Share Your Holidays" program, in partnership with ABC-13's annual holiday food drive, ran from Nov. 18 through Jan. 28. At every register in Houston-area HEB's, shoppers were given the opportunity to scan a coupon for an additional $1, $3, or $5 to be added to their total grocery purchase. All donations were earmarked for the Houston Food Bank to aid in its fight against hunger in greater Houston.
