HEB, Spurs Mascots Educate Kids on Dairy's Link to Healthy Bones

SAN ANTONIO -- To spotlight June as National Dairy Month, H.E. Butt Grocery Co. here used its mascot, H-E-Buddy, along with the San Antonio Spurs' Coyote mascot, to educate children and others about the importance of getting "3-A-Day" servings of dairy to ensure healthy bones. Joining the shopping adventure yesterday at HEB’s 300 W. Olmos store in San Antonio was Charles Beckendorf, a local dairy farmer.

The mascots took children through the aisles in search of dairy products, and then headed to the checkout stand to announce the launch of the HEB "Face of 3-A-Day" essay contest for children ages 5 to 12. The grand-prize winner will receive a $1,000 saving bond and will be the local "face" of diary appearing in HEB print ads. Seven finalists will receive $100 savings bonds.
