HEB Lauded for Floral Plant Safety
HEB earned recognition from federal occupational safety and health regulators for maintaining a safe work place at its floral plant in San Antonio.
The floral processing plant earned "Star" status in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program. HEB officials will receive the award at a ceremony at the plant on Oct. 1.
The OSHA review team determined that the plant's housekeeping standards rated "excellent" when compared to sites in similar industries. Plant employees store and ship floral products to HEB stores throughout Texas. The plant is only the fifth industrial site in San Antonio to receive OSHA's Star designation. Companies that participate in the Voluntary Protection Program demonstrate that their work sties exceed federal safety standards. Those that receive Star status have average injury rates 50 percent below other companies in like industries.
