Harris Teeter Rolls Out Sterilyfe Hand Sanitation Stations

Having introduced the Sterilyfe Hand Sanitation Station at the end of 2014 exclusively in select locations, Harris Teeter is now on track to roll out the kiosks across all 233 of its stores, with installations taking place through the summer and autumn.

"Harris Teeter prides itself on providing our shoppers a clean shopping environment,” said Danna Jones, communication manager at the Matthews, N.C.-based grocer, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co., in Cincinnati. "We believe our shoppers will appreciate this convenience, which not only enhances the excellent customer service they have come to expect from their Harris Teeter, but also contributes to the health and wellness of their families as well as our valued associates."

"Harris Teeter … was one of the first grocers to start the trend of giving away free hand wipes to their customers many years ago," noted Sean Quinn, president of Sarasota, Fla.-based Sterilyfe USA. "Since then, almost every major retail grocer has followed suit. Harris Teeter cares about their customers and has always been known as a leader in innovation in the grocery space. For these two reasons, they are the perfect partner for us to launch this industry-changing vehicle for both the shopper and the advertiser."

Most locations will have two stations situated in the center of the vestibule at the front of the store. Each kiosk has two canisters of hand wipes at the sides; an automatic faucet dispensing an alcohol-free, all-natural foam hand sanitizer, Natrezza, made fromSterilyfe's proprietary formula; and a 32-inch digital interactive touchscreen providing weekly offers for customers.

Harris Teeter operates stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, and employs about 28,000 associates.
