Harris Teeter Planning Multiple New Units in Charleston, S.C. Area
Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter is planning a major expansion in the Charleston, S.C. region, doubling its store count in the area by adding six additional locations. This expansion occurs at a time when few other supermarkets are building locations in the area.
Harris Teeter confirmed that it is renovating space in West Ashley, to be completed next fall. Also confirmed is a store in northern Goose Creek, the company's first location in that area. The grocer is working on sites in Summerville, two in Mount Pleasant and Johns Island., according to the Charleston Post and Courier.
Many of the proposed locations are in well-established residential areas or in neighborhoods where scheduled new construction may predict growth potential.
