Harris Teeter Changes Internet Coupon Policy
MATTHEWS, N.C. - Harris Teeter here has partially lifted its ban on Internet coupons, according to signage posted in its stores.
Last summer the chain stopped accepting Internet coupons after receiving counterfeit coupons for several products, including Haagen-Dazs and Stouffer's. The counterfeit coupons were for free products.
Its new policy allows redemption of only "cents-off" Internet coupons; no "free" product Internet coupons will be accepted. In addition, Harris Teeter will accept only two Internet coupons per manufacturer product, per store visit, and the company reserves the right to reject any Internet coupon that doesn't appear to be an original or doesn't scan properly.
Stores are receiving new signs informing customers of the new policy change. Store personnel were told that customers arguing about the policy should be referred to a manager or floor monitor.
