Hannaford to Deploy Workforce Solution Across Banners
SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- In an effort to optimize business performance across its various banners, Hannaford Bros. Co., plans to move the workforce management of its 270 stores -- operating under the banners of Hannaford Supermarkets, Sweetbay, and Kash n' Karry -- to a common, Web-based platform.
The retailer will install Kronos for Retail from Kronos, Inc., Chelmsford, Mass. to manage its workforce according to business demand drivers such as corporate budgets, customer traffic, production needs, and employee work/life preferences. The solution enables standardization of work rules and best practices across all stores in the three chains so that all business units are supported in the single implementation of Kronos for Retail.
"Kronos for Retail will help us not only meet the needs of our business today, but also positions us to meet emerging needs with future growth plans," said Bill Homa, c.i.o. at Hannaford. "We chose Kronos because it offered an enterprise-wide solution, allowing us to move three banners onto one Web-based solution that could easily integrate with our store systems and technology platforms."
Hannaford will integrate the labor budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, time and labor, and business intelligence solutions within Kronos for Retail with other store systems such as front-end POS and self-checkout, a deli scale system, and pharmacy POS. This will allow Hannaford to more accurately forecast business and customer demand to deliver superior service while controlling labor costs. Also, by leveraging the data-rich environment of its stores, it will be able to balance the needs of the business, customers, and employees by creating optimized schedules for all associates that meet all work rules and policies while also considering individual employee work/life preferences.
