Hannaford Supermarkets is acquiring two Bud’s Shop ‘n Save stores in Newport and Dexter, Maine, according to a published report citing the Scarborough, Maine-based grocer. The deal is expected to close in early December.

A wholesale customer of Hannaford for more than 60 years, Bud’s offers a wide variety of Hannaford brand items. Dean Homstead, the owner of Bud’s, will continue to own and operate a location in Pittsfield, Maine

Hannaford told the Portland Press Herald that it doesn’t expect any major changes at the two grocery stores.

“We have been proud to support these stores as a wholesale supplier for many years and we look forward to serving customers with a familiar team, local products and Hannaford-brand items,” Todd Bullen, a director of operations for Hannaford, told the newspaper.

Once the acquisition is complete, Hannaford will have 62 stores in Maine. The Ahold Delhaize company currently operates 179 stores in Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, employing more than 26,000 associates.
