H-E-B Scores Goal with Stadium Name

H-E-B has partnered with the United Soccer League’s (USL) Rio Grande Valley FC Toros for the naming rights of the team’s Edinburg, Texas stadium, which now will be named H-E-B Park.

The 9,700-seat H-E-B Park, which will host a variety of professional soccer, musical concerts, high school sporting events and other forms of entertainment, will lead the USL in stadium infrastructure. Stadium amenities include a full-service restaurant, concessions, a park with a playground, an amphitheater with a capacity for 2,000 individuals, practice fields, executive lounges, a sports bar and 33 suites.

"The H-E-B Park in Edinburg is a premier facility, and we're thrilled to have naming rights for the stadium," said Linda Tovar, H-E-B senior manager of public affairs. "H-E-B is proud to celebrate the growing options for families both in our stores and out in the community. We are committed to the Rio Grande Valley, and this branding opportunity demonstrates the excitement and energy we share for the bright future of the valley."

Edinburg is home to 84,000 residents, while more than 1.3 million people call the four counties that make up the Rio Grande Valley home. Edinburg is the third largest city in the RGV and serves as the county seat for Hidalgo County. H-E-B Park and all its amenities will enable the park to be a staple as an entertainment hub in the Rio Grande Valley.

The RGV FC Toros will serve as the anchor tenant of H-E-B Park and kick off its inaugural game once the stadium is ready. The USL awarded its 25th franchise to Alonzo Cantu, owner of the NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers, on July 15, 2015, and started play in the 2016 season.

With sales of more than $23 billion, San Antonio-based H-E-B operates more than 370 stores in Texas and Mexico.
