Grocery Coupon Network Adds Gamification Elements

Online coupon site Grocery Coupon Network (GCN) has developed a new platform that allows consumers to earn points by redeeming coupons at various retailers including Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, Target and other regional and local grocery outlets.

According to Chicago-based GCN, the platform is the first of its kind to include gamification rules. Users can earn points and incentives by forwarding recipes, voting on recipes, commenting on other user posts, or simply logging into the website. Once enough points are accumulated, the user is awarded with incentive badges, exclusive offers and other prizes.

Once per month, GCN picks a random user from its top 50 users to receive a $100 Visa gift card.

GCN currently boasts over 2 million active users and an engaged community of frequent contributors. Since the introduction of these gamification elements just last month, user engagement has increased nearly 10 percent, said GCN.
