'Green Grocer' Bank Robber Strikes Again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A bank robber the FBI has dubbed the "Green Grocer" because of his selection of bank branches within grocery stores has committed his eighth suspected robbery in a month, according to bureau officials.

The robber struck at the Bank of Albuquerque located inside the Albertsons at the Alameda West shopping center on Tuesday.

The Green Grocer's method of approaching bank tellers and the distinctive handbag in which he carries his weapon have led authorities to believe they are dealing with a single person. Six of the robberies have been in Albuquerque, and two were in Santa Fe. The latest robbery was the first to take place on Albuquerque's West Side.

Based on eyewitness descriptions, the Green Grocer is believed to be a medium-built white male in his late 40s. A $5,000 reward has been offered in exchange for any information resulting in his apprehension.
