Giant Landover Presents Triple Winner Ambassadors

In support of its 11th annual Triple Winner game to support pediatric cancer care and research, Giant Food LLC has revealed this year's slate of program ambassadors, all of them local kids undergoing treatment at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center:

  • 11-year old Elijah, from Upper Marlboro, Md.
  • 13-year-old Juliana (Julie), from Manchester, Md.
  • 6-year-old Amber, from Bel Air, Md.
  • 16-year-old Michael, from Baltimore

Under the program, shoppers who donate $1 at a Giant Food store will receive a Triple Winner scratch card and could be an instant winner of a free product or cash up to $10,000, or receive a product coupon.

Since 2005, the Ahold USA chain has raised $14.7 million for pediatric cancer research through Triple Winner; this year, Giant Food pledges to raise $1.6 million. All donations will go directly to the Pediatric Oncology Division at the Kimmel Cancer Center and the Children's Cancer Foundation, both based in Baltimore.

"Our in-store campaign brings community members together to support patient care and research that we hope one day can help cure childhood cancer," said Gordon Reid, president of Landover, Md.-based Giant Food.

The grocer's sister divisions Stop & Shop New England and Stop & Shop New York Metro also offer the Triple Winner Game in their respective market areas.

Giant Food operates 168 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, employing about 20,000 associates.
