Giant Eagle Food and Nutrition Adviser Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

PITTSBURGH - The American Dietetic Association (ADA) has presented Giant Eagle food and nutrition advisor Judy Dodd, MS, RD, LD, with its 2004 Medallion Award.

Dodd is one of eight national recipients of the award, which has been given out yearly since 1976 to honor selected ADA members' service to and leadership in the dietetics profession. Dodd's award was in recognition of her 30-year career in nutrition education.

In its award presentation to Dodd, the ADA cited her history of leadership, visionary and strategic thinking, dedication to nurturing talent in the profession, and ability to inspire colleagues and students, among other qualities.

Said Dodd in a statement: "I am honored that the American Dietetic Association has deemed my career worthy of this distinguished award. Wanting to help people live healthier lives is the reason why I chose this profession, and it truly has been a privilege to be a part of all of the wonderful opportunities made possible through my work with clients like Giant Eagle and the University of Pittsburgh."

As well as her work at Giant Eagle, Dodd has been adjunct assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition for 15 years.
