Giant Eagle Changes Advertising Circular Schedule
PITTSBURGH - Supermarket retailer Giant Eagle, Inc. last week changed its weekly advertising circular schedule to begin on Thursday, instead of Sunday, in all of the company's 223 stores.
The new start date for the weekly specials addresses the increasing need to better prepare time-pressed customers for their weekend shopping trips. "Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shoppers account for approximately one-half of our weekly customer totals," said Giant Eagle v.p. of Marketing Kevin Srigley. "The change in the start date of the advertising circular from Sunday to Thursday is intended to provide our shoppers with an increased level of convenience by beginning the current week's promotions in advance of the busy Friday-to-Sunday time period and keeping them consistent through the weekend."
"With the change in days," Srigley continued, "employees can stock products for the new sale during the week and have more time to focus on customer service when the bulk of customers do their weekly shopping."
