Giant Eagle Adds Free BP Meds
Building off an expanded array of value-focused pharmacy offerings, Giant Eagle pharmacy locations have begun offering two of the most commonly prescribed blood pressure medications for free.
Described as the most generous blood pressure medication offer in the country for a condition which affects one in three U.S adults, the Pittsburgh-based multi-format food, fuel and pharmacy retailer is the first to provide free blood pressure medications across its geographic footprint.
The latest iteration of the retailer's enhanced pharmacy offerings will provide customers with qualifying prescriptions up to 90 tablets of Lisinopril or Lisinopril HCTZ for free at all 215 of its pharmacy locations in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia.
Giant Eagle also offers an array of services that can be utilized by those managing high blood pressure. The company operates blood pressure kiosks located in all of its pharmacy locations. Giant Eagle registered dietitians are also available at many locations to offer personal nutrition coaching.
In related news, Giant Eagle also launched a new mobile pharmacy app to make adherence to medication regimens simple and seamless. The new app provides customers with many conveniences, including the ability to refill prescriptions on-the-go, set refill and medication reminders, and receive alerts when prescriptions are available for pick-up.
Giant Eagle’s new free blood pressure medication program builds on the company’s other value-focused pharmacy offerings, including free prenatal vitamins and generic antibiotics, including Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin, generic Bactrim and Penicillin. Further, Giant Eagle pharmacies also offer a $4 and $10 generic prescription program which covers a wide variety of other medical conditions, such as diabetes, high cholesterol and arthritis, all of which allow customers to earn gasoline discounts on qualifying prescriptions with its fuelperks! shopper loyalty rewards program when using their Advantage shopper card.
With approximately $9.9 billion in annual sales, Giant Eagle has 417 stores throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, northern West Virginia and Maryland.
