German Supermarket Clerk Stages Attack and Steals Money
BERLIN - A German supermarket clerk put the money from her register into her shoes and hit herself over the head, telling police she had been attacked and robbed, Bavarian police said last week.
The 26-year-old told police she was alone in the store when a masked man forced her at gunpoint to fill his pockets and several bags with money from the cash box before knocking her unconscious with a blow to her head.
The woman's scheme was foiled, however, when medical examinations said her head injury didn't match up to her description of the attack. She confessed to police that she had hit herself on the head with a blunt object and stolen the money to pay off debts.
