Fruit Center Marketplace Recognized As Top Place to Work in Mass.

Fruit Center Marketplace was named one of the top 20 best places to work in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe; it came in 18th out of 40 in the medium-sized business category. This is the fourth consecutive year that the independent retailer, based in Milton, Mass., has made the list.

“We’re honored to be named to the 'Top Places to Work' list for the fourth year in a row. Our employees are an essential reason for the success of our business. Not only are they conscientious and caring toward our customers, they are the same way with each other. It is that thoughtful and compassionate dynamic that fosters such a positive workplace,” said owner-director Michael Mignosa.

Fruit Center Marketplace is a gourmet grocer that is in its third generation of family management and has two, 10,000-square-foot stores in Boston’s southern suburbs. Many of its employees have tenure of more than 25 years.

The companies that make the list are voted on by their employees; the list measures the company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. The list is divided into four categories: small (50-99 employees), medium (100-249), large (250-999) and largest (1,000+).

Katie Johnston, The Boston Globe's workplace reporter said: “The success of a company is not only measured by its revenue and profits, but also by the loyalty and satisfaction of its employees; winning companies have developed innovative ways to engage and motivate their workers, which often serves as a key factor in innovation and leads to better professional performance.”
