Freshway Foods has made a contribution of $1,000 to the Produce Marketing Association Foundation for Industry Talent annual campaign.
This donation will help build programs designed to attract, develop and retain talent for the produce supply chain. “We are very proud to be joining a strong network of industry leaders who believe as passionately as we do that people are the lifeblood of our industry,” said Frank Gilardi, Freshway co-founder and CEO. “And we are grateful for an organization such as the PMA Foundation that is diligently working to attract and support a strong pool of talented professionals to be our next generation of leaders.”
PMA Foundation Industry for Talent is supported by contributions from companies who operate in all segments of the global produce supply chain. Funding from the PMA Foundation annual campaign supports many programs, including internships, career ambassadors program, career pathways, event scholarships, leadership development opportunities and HR resources.
This industry-wide effort was initiated to educate bright, young talent about careers in produce; support the health of the industry by developing competent, skilled people adequately prepared for future leadership; and provide assistance to produce companies who want to create strong corporate cultures that encourage employee retention.
“We are honored to be associated with organizations of Freshway Foods’ caliber,” said John Anderson, chairman of the PMA Foundation for Industry Talent board. “Gifts such as this go far in making a difference to the future of the produce industry’s talent pool.”
Sidney, Ohio-based Freshway Foods is a produce processor, repacker, distributor and logistics provider that serves foodservice and retail customers in states east of the Mississippi from Massachusetts to Florida.
The PMA Foundation for Industry Talent was founded in 2006 to help current and future produce professionals develop their potential for leadership, personal growth and career success.
