Fresh Grocer Raises $15K for Red Cross

The Fresh Grocer, an independent retailer based in Drexhel Hill, Pa., yesterday presented the American Red Cross with a check for $15,000. The funds were raised through contributions received during the supermarket’s first chainwide fundraiser for the American Red Cross that took place in March in honor of Red Cross Month.

Meanwhile, in response to the recent tornadoes affecting Oklahoma and Texas, the company opted to reactivate the at-the-register fundraiser across all stores. The campaign will last through June 30, 2013.

Customers are given the opportunity to donate $1, $3 or $5 at checkout.

Yesterday's check presentation took place at the 56th and Chestnut Street Fresh Grocer in West Philadelphia -- the store that was most successful in its fundraising efforts, responsible for raising more than 25 percent of total donations.
