Former Southeastern Grocers Chief McLeod Joins Pan-Asian Retailer

Ian McLeod, who recently resigned as president and CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers, will succeed Graham Allan as group chief executive of Dairy Farm International Holdings Ltd., effective Sept 18.

McLeod has brings more than 30 years of experience in the retail sector to his latest role. He spent his early career with Asda in the United Kingdom and Germany before joining the Halfords Group in the U.K. in 2003, where he was named chief executive. McLeod then became managing director of Coles in Australia in 2008, where he oversaw a significant improvement of the business, which outperformed the market during his tenure. He joined Southeastern Grocers, the fifth-largest supermarket chain in the United States, in 2015

“Ian brings with him extensive strategic and operational retail experience, with a strong track record of driving profitable growth,” said Dairy Farm Chairman Ben Keswick, noting that McLeod’s predecessor had “laid the foundation” for future growth, particularly in mainland China. “We would like to welcome Ian to Dairy Farm, and to wish him every success in taking the group forward on its next stage of development.”

Incorporated in Bermuda, Dairy Farm, together with its associates and joint ventures, operates 6,500 outlets, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, health and beauty stores, home furnishings stores, and restaurants, employing more than 180,000 associates across 11 countries and territories. Dairy Farm is a member of the Jardine Matheson Group.
