Food Lion Kicking Off Fall Football Campaign

Food Lion’s Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals Fall Football Campaign, running Sept. 4 through Sept. 17, will support local kids receiving medical care from 26 children’s hospitals, as well as the children’s families.

During the two-week campaign, customers who donate $1 at the register will receive a paper football in acknowledgement of their support. Customers can also buy specially marked Kellogg’s and Procter & Gamble (P&G) products to support the nonprofit Salt Lake City-based organization. For purchases of these products during the campaign, the Kellogg Co. and P&G will each make a donation of up to $50,000 to CMN Hospitals.

“This year, we have already raised $2.4 million toward our $4 million goal for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” noted Sherrii Webb, Food Lion’s community relations manager. “We invite our customers to help us during the next two weeks to collect an additional $1.6 million to provide critical care to thousands in need through this important organization.”

This year marks the 22nd annual CMN Hospitals campaign at Food Lion. The Delhaize America-owned grocery chain has supported the organization since 1991, raising more than $45 million to date. Donations fund important research and supplement medical care to help millions of kids dealing with a wide range of diseases and injuries.

Food Lion, based in Salisbury, N.C., operates more than 1,100 supermarkets and employs about 57,000 associates in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
