Food City to Showcase Tamale Makers with Food Festival
Food City will showcase Arizona’s finest tamale-makers Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11 in Phoenix to celebrate traditional Mexican culture during the grocer’s 11th annual Tamale Festival.
The festival and fundraiser is free and open to the general public, and takes place as many Hispanic families make homemade tamales for the holiday season. Attendees will be able to taste and buy a wide selection of homemade tamales, as well as enjoy a variety of booths that will offer jewelry, and arts and craft. The two-day event will also offer live musical entertainment.
The event will feature Tamale-makers from around the state selling their homemade tamales; a diverse community tasting some of the best tamales in the Southwest; and cultural arts, crafts and entertainment.
Following a 2:30 p.m. taste-testing Sunday, a panel of celebrity judges will name the “Best Tamale,” and Food City will award prizes to the winning tamale-maker.
