Fiesta Celebrates Reopenings, Acquisitions

Specialty food retailer Fiesta Mart LLC is continuing its dramatic reinvigoration on the heels of its acquisition by equity investment firm Acon Investments in 2015. Houston-based Fiesta Mart, which specializes in international foods, held the grand reopening of the newly remodeled Main Street (Houston) store, along with two former Minyard stores, in Balch Springs and Waxahachie, Texas, which were part of the 11-store Minyard Food Stores acquisition in July 2016.

"These grand reopenings across Texas are another way to solidify our commitment to serve our local communities through excellent customer service, great values, and a wide variety of international and specialty food options," noted CEO Michael Byars. Named president in 2015, Byars was previously CEO of Bi-Lo LLC. He was also president and CEO of Minyard Food Stores Inc. from 2005 to 2009.

With the Minyward acquisitions, Fiesta has 70 stores throughout Texas. The company also said that it would acquire three new stores in the Houston area. "Fiesta is continually looking for opportunities to serve new areas," said Byars. "We believe that these new acquisitions are a fantastic fit for the Fiesta brand, and we look forward to unveiling the new Fiesta experience in these stores in early 2017."
