Ex-Wal-Mart Exec to Lead Technology Integration for Suppliers
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Former Wal-Mart veteran Bruce Firth has joined Weather Trends International here as v.p. of technology integration, where he will oversee weather technology integration for Wal-Mart suppliers using year-ahead weather intelligence, the vendor said yesterday.
Most recently, Firth's team was responsible for Wal-Mart's predictive planning and budgeting systems. This group focused on advanced analytics of the Wal-Mart data warehouse and was directly responsible for identifying what inventory would be allocated in response to hurricanes, wild fires, ice storms, and other weather events. Also his team would analyze, through Wal-Mart's proprietary Retail Link system, the normal influences of weather on day-to-day operations.
Weather Trends International claims to be the key provider of long-range weather intelligence to Wal-Mart, ASDA, and Sam's Club, as well as dozens of retailers and manufacturers.
