Ex-FreshDirect Chief Sues Firm
NEW YORK - FreshDirect, the online food-delivery company based in Long Island City, N.Y., is being sued by its co-founder and former chief executive, Joseph Fedele, according to published reports. Fedele, who stepped down as c.e.o. early this year, remains a large shareholder of the company, as well as a director.
Fedele is suing for breach of contract in a dispute over whether FreshDirect's board is in violation of its fiduciary duties. Fedele's lawyer told Crain's New York Business that the board is "basically operating by excluding Mr. Fedele."
Jason Ackerman, c.f.o. of Fresh Direct, said the lawsuit has no merit, according to the report.
