Ex-Albertsons C.E.O. Warren McCain Dies
Warren McCain, who was Albertsons, Inc.'s c.e.o. from 1976 to 1991, died Saturday at age 82, according to published reports.
According to published reports, the grocery stores now owned by Supervalu went from $900 million in yearly sales to $8 billion while McCain was at the helm.
He was also a large donor to good causes, and Boise State University and College of Idaho are numbered among his endowments.
McCain was well known for a comment made about him by Joe Albertson, the reports said: "I built some grocery stores, and I got rich. And then I hired a man named Warren McCain to run them, and I got filthy rich."
