EPA Launches Web Site to Measure Energy Performance

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program has released the Energy-Related Financial Metrics computer-based program, which helps retailers assess and benchmark a company's energy management and compare themselves with their industry competitors.

Analysts and executives can use the Energy Metrics to measure corporate energy performance and incorporate that data into their investment decisions. Using elements commonly found in corporate financial statements, the program is a simple, effective tool for food retailers to evaluate and improve their energy performance.

The Metrics can be found at www.energystar.gov under the Business Improvement heading.
