Duane Reade to Expand Demand Management Solutions

NEW YORK -- Following a successful 24-month deployment of consumer demand management software, drug chain Duane Reade here has renewed its contract for its original system and has licensed two more components.

The retailer was using DemandTec Price, from San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec, for which it renewed its 24-month license, and it has also licensed the DemandTec Promotion and DemandTec Markdown solutions.

"We've experienced superior benefits with DemandTec Price since deploying it in September, 2003," said Gary Charboneau, s.v.p. of sales and marketing at Duane Reade. "As a result, we've chosen to embark on a strategy by licensing DemandTec Promotion and DemandTec Markdown to help us continue to gain important consumer insight and reach our business goals."

According to DemandTec, Duane Reade's decision will enable the drug store chain to pursue complete lifecycle pricing across all of its stores, managing and optimizing base prices, promotions, and markdowns, while gaining control over the entire pricing process, for every item in every store, from beginning to end.
