Draeger’s Goes Mobile to Improve Inventory Management
Draeger’s Supermarkets, with four stores in the San Francisco Bay area, is using Jaman Technologies’ XG3 mobile computers to improve inventory management in its grocery and housewares departments. The retailer worked with Straight-Line Solutions, a Sacramento, Calif.-based provider of wireless and mobile data collection solutions, to find a way to improve its replenishment processes and ensure that customers always have access to the specialty and gourmet foods, produce, meat, and home goods the stores are known for.
Draeger’s selected the XG3 because it's fast, lightweight and affordable; the company noticed cost-saving benefits immediately. “Finding the right inventory management solution was critical to the overall success of our business,” said Roger Marin, IT director for Draeger’s. “Janam’s XG3 not only provides us with significant savings, but also improves efficiencies across our stores and allows employees to spend more time assisting customers.”
With the Zebra SE965 laser scan engine, the XG3 provides Draeger’s with quick and accurate barcode scanning to reduce the time needed to complete in-store tasks. A custom Wavelink Terminal Emulation client designed specifically for Janam’s XG3 allows the retailer to provide mobile workers access to applications residing in the host system and optimize productivity.
