Dr Pepper Launches 2013 Tuition Giveaway
Dr Pepper has kicked off its 2013 Tuition Giveaway and, for the sixth consecutive college football season, will award more than $1 million in tuition to students across the country. Students 18 and up are invited to submit their story at DrPepperTuition.com for a chance to win a variety of prize levels, including one of four $100,000 grand tuition prizes.
“We’re passionate about our longstanding involvement in college football – and even more passionate about helping one-of-a-kind students pay their college bills,” said Brent Chism, director of brand marketing for Dr Pepper. “Tuition at the typical public university has risen more than 40 percent over the past 10 years—a staggering statistic that motivates the Dr Pepper team to work harder each year and help make a difference in the lives of our fans.”
Once they submit their short statements, students are asked to promote their stories through social networks, and their friends and followers will then have the opportunity to cast votes for their favorites. The five stories with the most votes by the end of the promotion will each win $10,000 in tuition.
This year, each student between the ages of 18 and 24 whose story receives at least 50 votes will be invited to submit a 60-second video to DrPepperTuition.com. Dr Pepper judges will select contestants with the most compelling videos to compete for a chance to win one of four $100,000 tuition grand prizes during halftime competitions at the Dr Pepper ACC Championship, the Big Ten Championship, the Pac-12 Championship and SEC Championship games.
During each competition, two finalists will throw footballs from the 5-yard line into a 2-foot hole in an oversized Dr Pepper can replica. The student who completes the most throws in 30 seconds will win $100,000 in tuition, with the runner-up taking home a $20,000 tuition prize. Three contestants invited to each game who do not advance past a preliminary throw will receive $2,500 in tuition.
Dr Pepper will also award daily $1,000 tuition prizes on Twitter for users who tweet with the hashtag #drpeppertuition.
