Delhaize America Unveils Pierre-Olivier Beckers Award

Delhaize America has established an annual award in honor of Delhaize Group CEO Pierre-Olivier Beckers, who will retire at the end of the year. Beckers has worked at Delhaize Group for 30 years, serving in the role of CEO for 15 years.

On behalf of the Delhaize America leadership team, Beth Newlands Campbell, president of Food Lion, announced the award and presented it to Beckers in front of hundreds of associates during a Salisbury, N.C., meeting on Wednesday.

“On behalf of Delhaize America’s more than 100,000 associates, we want to thank you for your outstanding leadership, service and commitment to our company,” said Campbell at the event. “During your past 15 years as CEO of Delhaize Group, you have mobilized an international organization to align around a common vision and set of core values. Also, you positioned our company for successful growth in the future.”

The inaugural award will be presented during the first quarter of 2014 to a Delhaize America associate who exemplifies the stellar leadership and values that Beckers has brought to the organization, including Delhaize America’s core values: determination, integrity, courage, humility and humor.

Delhaize America companies include Bottom Dollar Food, Food Lion, Harveys, Hannaford Supermarkets, Reid’s and Sweetbay.
