D'Agostino Bags a Winner

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- The results of D'Agostino Supermarkets' first NYC Best Bagger Championship are in, and America Evins of the grocer's Lexington Avenue and 76th Street location was the winner, the chain said.

Part of the nationwide National Grocers Association program in which the best-of-the-best grocery baggers in the country compete for prizes and the title of America's Best Bagger, the D'Agostino contest was held yesterday at its store on 38th Street and 3rd Avenue in New York. The chain said it was the only such competition in the area.

Evins is now eligible to compete at the state level, and depending on how she does there, at the national contest at the NGA National convention in Las Vegas in January 2008.
"Excellence in bagging represents an important element in providing outstanding customer service in an area in which independent community focused retailers excel," said Nicholas D'Agostino III president and c.o.o.

The chain earlier held contests at each of its 18 stores, the winner from each location receiving $100 D'AG Gift Certificates and 5,000 S&H Greenpoints, redeemable at any D'Agostino store, or at the Greenpoints Web site, respectively.
