Cub Foods Launches New Liquor Store Concept
Featuring a new format, expanded selection and local flavors, Cub Foods has opened the doors on its first-ever Cub Wine & Spirits shop at its supermarket in Stillwater, Minn.
The full-service liquor store concept features hundreds of new offerings in wine, beer and spirits. Located in a new space next to the Stillwater Cub Foods store, Cub Wine & Spirits is more than three times larger than the former Cub Liquor store, at more than 9,000 square feet.
The largest liquor operation in Cub’s portfolio, the store boasts several exciting new features, including a wine and beer tasting bar that will offer sampling and educational events; an expanded wine selection with highly-rates varietals from every region; "The Wall," featuring more than 1,000 bottles of beer from which shoppers can create their own six-packs; and a host of local small-batch and craft offerings from the St. Croix Valley and Twin Cities areas.
“With the new Cub Wine & Spirits format, we’re excited to offer our Stillwater customers’ favorite craft beers, wines and spirits at a great value — all in one convenient location,” said Darren Caudill, Cub VP of sales and merchandising. “The new location will help us continue to make strides toward our goal of providing customers with the best possible shopping experience.”
Cub Foods operates 78 stores in Minnesota and Illinois. Established in 1968 as one of the nation’s first discount grocery stores, Cub was purchased in 1980 by Minneapolis-based Supervalu Inc.
