C&S Wholesale Grocers to Hire 500 in Pa.
C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. will create at least 500 new full-time jobs as part of an expansion project in Bethlehem, Pa., which is partly located in the state’s Northampton County.
Keene, N.H.-based C&S will expand East Coast operations and lease an existing facility several miles away from its current Northampton County site. The distributor plans to invest at least $15 million in the project and has also committed to create the jobs and retain its 1,980 existing employees across Pennsylvania over the next three years.
"The reuse of this shuttered facility is a huge win for the commonwealth and the Lehigh Valley region, and serves as a prime example of the importance of remaining engaged in securing new employers and opportunities to yield positive economic impacts for Pennsylvania," said Gov. Tom Wolf.
C&S received a funding proposal from the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development, including $1,290,000 in job creation tax credits to be distributed when the new jobs are created.
