Consumers Invited to 'Flip' for Vaseline All Over Again
To celebrate the multiple uses of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly on the occasion of the product’s 140th anniversary, the Unilever brand is asking consumers to share how they how they “flip” for the iconic “wonder jelly,” in reference to a convenient new flip cap that allows users to open the packaging with one hand. Additionally, a new Rich Conditioning Cocoa Butter variety has joined the product line on store shelves in a 7.5-ounce jar retailing for a suggested $2.99.
The “How Do You Flip for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly?” campaign will engage fans via a newly launched Vaseline Facebook community at www.facebook.com/vaseline, as well as a Twitter page at www.twitter.com/vaselinebrand. The 140 ways Vaseline likes best will be featured in a video montage demonstrating the product’s versatility. Everyone who submits a tip will be entered for a chance to win a limited-edition Vaseline Petroleum Jelly jar adorned with Swarovski crystals.
Among the venerable product’s many uses are to prevent red lipstick from adhering to teeth, soothe legs after shaving, prevent chafing when running, help prevent diaper rash, and keep key holes from freezing.
“The Vaseline brand is a skin care authority, and its heritage is built on petroleum jelly, which has become one of the world’s most iconic products, used for a variety of beauty, baby, medicinal, athletic needs and more,” said Anne Jensen, director, Unilever Skin Care at the Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based manufacturer. “There are very few products on the market that offer such a wide array of uses.”
