ConAgra Foods Cuts Sodium in Popular Brands

OMAHA, Neb. -- ConAgra Foods, Inc. yesterday unveiled a companywide initiative to reduce sodium in its products, estimating that it has removed about 2.8 million pounds of salt from Americans' diets annually. The reductions in sodium can be found in many of ConAgra Foods' top-selling brands, including Banquet Chef Boyardee, Kid Cuisine, Marie Callender's, and Orville Redenbacher's.

"Over the past several years, we have focused our efforts on improving the nutritional profile of many of our foods, including successfully reducing sodium content in our top-selling products,î said Al Bolles, e.v.p., research, quality, and innovation, in a statement. ìThis focus enabled us to reduce sodium by 15 percent to 20 percent in many products without compromising the great taste of the product. With continued focus and investment, we are confident that we will remove even more salt and provide consumers with more healthful food choices."
