CLIF Notes
Two new bar lines from Berkeley, Calif.-based Clif Bar & Co. offer active consumers two types of nutritive satisfaction. The first line of crunchy granola bars to include whole, baked-in creamy chocolate and peanut butter chips, CLIF CRUNCH also features nuts and a special blend of organic whole grains and rice crisps, resulting in lighter-textured crunch. The 70 percent organic, all-natural bars come in Chocolate Chip, Honey Oat, Peanut Butter and the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut flavors (the last a first for the category, according to Clif), and each 1.5-ounce two-bar packet provides a full serving of organic whole grains and four to five grams of protein, as well as being a good source of fiber. CLIF CRUNCH retails for a suggested $3.99 per 10-bar box, with 1 percent of net sales contributed to 1% for the Planet. Meanwhile, CLIF C is a double-layered fruit and nut bar made from just nine all-natural and organic ingredients and available in four flavors: Raspberry, Apple, Blueberry and Cherry Pomegranate. Each low-sodium CLIF C bar contains just 130 calories, provides one full serving of fruit, offers 4 grams of fiber and has only 4.5 grams of fat. The suggested retail price for a 1.4-ounce bar is $1.39. For additional information on either bar, visit www.clifbar.com.
