Circle K Gets into Music

LAVAL, Quebec, Canada -- This summer, shoppers at Circle K's convenience stores will be able to pick up the latest popular music CDs along with their Icees and phone airtime, as the convenience store chain plans to place point-of-purchase displays containing top artist's new releases in all of its stores.

The displays are developed by Mediastorm Entertainment Corp., Newport Beach, Calif., which will also provide an aggressive marketing and advertising campaign nationally to increase brand awareness. "We are serving a demand for more convenient music CDs and driving sales with POP impulse displays at the front of the stores," said Mark Mushkin, Mediastorm's c.e.o.

In addition, Mediastorm is producing a limited edition compilation DVD containing top music videos to be given away free with the purchase of any music CD.

Circle K is a subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., based here, which currently operates a network of 4,861 convenience stores, (3,035 of which include motor fuel dispensing), located in eight large geographic markets, including three in Canada and five in the U.S., which span 23 states.
