Campbell Soup Aims to Make Guinness World Record with Help from Wal-Mart

CAMDEN, N.J. - The Campbell Soup Company will attempt to spoon up a new Guinness World Record on Aug. 30 by serving the world's largest simultaneous soup lunch on record by time zone at Wal-Mart stores. Campbell's goal is to serve one million soup lunches in a single day.

Customers are invited to visit their local Wal-Mart store on Aug. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to receive a free cup or bowl of Campbell's soup. Participants will receive one of the newly introduced single-serve, microwavable varieties of Campbell's "Soup at Hand," "Campbell's Chunky," or "Campbell's Select" soups. The event is open to participants of all ages and will be taking place at Wal-Mart stores across the country.

"This attempt to set a new world record gives Campbell's an opportunity to introduce our customers to our brand new 'M'm! M'm! Good! To Go' microwavable soups with a fun and unique community-oriented event," said Jeremy Fingerman, president, U.S. Soup, Campbell Soup Company. "Customers can sip, shop, and set a world record all in one afternoon."

All participants will be asked to sign their name on a ledger, which will be reviewed by representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records. The formal record will be announced at a later date.
