California Avocados Headlines Emmy Awards Menu
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- California Avocados had a starring role at last week's 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards as the feature attraction in the first course of the Governor's Ball menu.
The starter course was a Stuffed Avocado with Shrimp, Crab, and Sprouting Salad, for which the Chef ordered 1,500 pounds of fresh California Avocados. Chef Splichal of the Patina Group designed the menu, which was served to the 2,800 guests at the official post-awards party.
Jan DeLyser, v.p. of marketing for the Irvine, Calif.-based California Avocado Commission (CAC), said Splichal's recipe was consistent with the positioning of California Avocados. "His recipe prominently features the California Avocado, showcasing it in a presentation that is classic, simple, and yet very elegant."
The CAC, created in 1978 to develop markets for and increase consumption of California avocados on behalf of the state's 6,800 avocado growers, serves as the official information source for California avocados and the California avocado industry.
