Burns Family Fresh Grocer Honored for Civic Contribution
The Fresh Grocer of LaSalle, owned and operated by the Burns family, was recognized by members of the Philadelphia Police Department’s 14th District with the Civic Leader Award for its “generous commitment of time, support and backing of our endeavors,” said Captain Sekou Kinebrew of the 14th District. Councilwoman Cindy Bass and Pennsylvania State Senator-Elect Sharif Street also presented the Burns family with a Citation from the Council of the City of Philadelphia for its “tireless efforts and dedicated service to the community.”
The store is dedicated to community improvement, community service and supporting the local police as they serve and protect the district as well as providing meals to officers working on holidays. Other community service efforts include providing food, food vouchers and gift cards for community events, senior citizens and families.

In total the Burns family operates five Fresh Grocer and one ShopRite supermarkets in the Philadelphia area.
