Brown & Cole Stores Chooses Straitshot Intelligent Private Network
BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Brown & Cole Stores here has selected Seattle-based Straitshot Intelligent Private Network (IPN) to provide the grocer's employees with secure access to important applications, including electronic payments, pricing, inventory, Citrix thin-client applications, and the company intranet.
Brown & Cole began implementation of Straitshot network at its 30 grocery stores across the Pacific Northwest in December 2005, and the deployment should be complete by the end of March.

"By partnering with Straitshot, we now have a high-performance network for servicing our employees. We didn't have to choose between the high cost of legacy private networks or sacrifice performance and security associated with Internet connections. According to Straitshot, benefits of the network include the following:

Brown & Cole also has plans to deploy voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP), or the routing of voice conversations over the Internet or any other IP-based network, at an unspecified future date, although the implementation of the Straitshot network should greatly facilitate the addition of the technology, Straitshot spokeswoman Deanna Leung told Progressive Grocer.
