Bristol Farms VP Tracy Wolpert Dies

Tracy Wolpert, Bristol Farms' VP of operations and former CEO of PCC Natural Markets, died last week in Long Beach, Calif., following a sudden illness. Wolpert officially joined Carson, Calif.-based Bristol Farms in October 2015, after doing consulting work for the upscale grocery chain for six months.

"While he was only with us for a short period of time, he had a big impact on our Bristol Farms family," said CEO Kevin Davis. "He was one of the most customer and employee-centric executives in the industry. Tracy had a holistic mission and approach which tied together employees’ and the customers’ love of food into an unusual and fulfilling store experience. We miss Tracy deeply, but we thank and appreciate him for his vision and positive impact to us and to the industry."

Originally from Lakewood, Calif., Wolpert was at Seattle-based PCC from 2000 to 2013, joining the natural food cooperative as COO and becoming CEO a year later. He also previously worked at Vons and Big Bear Supermarkets.

Bristol Farms operates 15 stores in California under the Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres Market banners.
