Boston-Area Stop & Shop Calls Bomb Squad on Pipe
QUINCY, Mass. – A Bedford, Mass. supermarket operated by Stop & Shop had to be evacuated last week after a vendor noticed an eight-inch copper pipe inside one of the store's shopping carts, the Lowell Sun reported.
The Massachusetts bomb squad came in and blew up the pipe, and then took the remains of the pipe for further testing.
At presstime, investigators hadn't determined whether the object was a bomb. Officials at Stop & Shop, based here, were not available for comment on Friday.
