BJ'S Wholesale Club Makes Management Changes
NATICK, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. here said yesterday it appointed Paul M. Bass e.v.p., merchandising. His predecessor, Karen L. Stout, who became e.v.p., merchandising in 2004, has left the club store chain to join Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Longs Drug Stores Corp.
Bass has 35 years of retail experience, including 15 years with BJ's in a series of merchandising roles, most recently as s.v.p., general merchandise manager of food and consumables.
BJ's president and c.e.o. Mike Wedge noted in a statement: "[Paul] is a true club merchant with direct experience running both food and general merchandise businesses. [He] has made many contributions to BJ's success over the years, not the least of which is the development of talented and capable merchants to succeed him. In his new position, Paul's facility for building executive talent will continue to be a key asset for BJ's as he guides the next generation of BJ's merchant leaders."
The company also said that it promoted Bruce Graham to s.v.p., general merchandise manager. Graham has been with BJ's for 21 years, most recently as v.p., divisional merchandise manager, reporting to Bass. He will lead "our rapidly growing food and consumables division," said Wedge.
