BJ’s to Open 200th Club

BJ’s Membership Club will reach a significant milestone with the opening of its 200th location, in Fayetteville, N.C. Like the retailer’s other clubs, the new location will feature groceries and general merchandise, including premium consumer electronics and brand-name appliances.

Additional offerings will include a fresh bakery, BJ’s Cafe, deli, optical services, rotisserie chicken, tire center, gas station and Verizon Wireless Kiosk.

To mark the grand opening, BJ’s will host festivities scheduled for June 21 - 23, during which current members and the public can sample a range of foods and beverages, meet Kellogg’s Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam, and enjoy the services of balloon artists and face painters. BJ’s will also give away reusable shopping bags while supplies last and provide information on the club’s selection of organic and all-natural foods.

The company has also embarked on several community endeavors, including a partnership with the VanStory Hills Elementary School as part of BJ’s “Adopt-a-School” program, under which the school will receive a $1,000 donation to improve educational programs and curriculum objectives, a shopping cart full of items from the school’s wish list valued at $1,500 and a free membership. Among BJ’s other local community partners are Feeding America/Second Harvest of Southeast North Carolina, the USO of Fayetteville and the Junior League of Fayetteville.

“An important part of our company is giving back, and BJ’s takes great pride in being a good corporate citizen and supporting the communities in which we live and work,” said Jerry Bullock, general manager of the Fayetteville club. “We take our responsibility to our new neighbors, who make up this great city, very seriously.”

Westborough, Mass.-based BJ’s operates 200 clubs in 15 eastern states.
