BJ's Elevates Laura Sen to C.E.O.
BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc.'s board of directors has elected Laura Sen c.e.o., effective Feb. 1, 2009. Sen has been the company's president and c.o.o., as well as a member of the board of directors, since January 2008. She will keep the title of president and continue as a member of the board.
Additionally, Herb Zarkin, who preceded Sen as c.e.o., will continue as chairman of the board and will stand for re-election to the board when his term expires in May 2010. Previously, Zarkin had planned to retire from the board in May 2010. Today's management changes were part of a planned succession, according to BJ's.
"Laura has done an outstanding job of managing our day-to-day operations for the past year," noted Zarkin. "Our business has never run more smoothly. Laura and her team have improved our members' experience by providing better merchandise quality and value, and by raising operating standards in our clubs."
BJ's operates 178 clubs in 15 states.
